ODS Alaska: A New choice in Medical Carriers for Alaska
ODS Alaska Now Offers Group Medical Coverage in Addition to Delta Dental
Anchorage, Ak. – ODS Health Plan, Inc. (ODS Alaska ) received final approval from the Alaska Division of Insurance on June 2 to begin marketing group medical policies to Alaska-based employers. ODS opened a local office in Anchorage in 2004 as the general managing agent and administrator for Delta Dental Insurance Company. By adding medical programs to its current Delta Dental offerings, ODS Alaska provides a comprehensive new choice in health plans for Alaska-based employers.
"By living in Alaska and working closely with local agents and group administrators for the past two years, we have learned a lot about the Alaska market," said Ty Phillippay, ODS Alaska Marketing Manager. "We took our time when developing these new medical products so that our benefit designs, provider networks and pricing were right for Alaska and met the needs of Alaska's employers. I am confident these products will be well received."
Jennifer Bundy-Cobb, Vice President of Account Management for The Wilson Agency in Anchorage, shares Phillippay's optimism for the release of ODS' new medical products. "We are very excited about the rollout of ODS' medical products in the Alaska market," said Bundy-Cobb. "This is the first launch of its kind in the past decade. ODS chose to open an office in Alaska in 2004 because of the unique opportunity to act as the general managing agent for Delta Dental Insurance Company for that state, and based on the company's mission to become more regional in scope over the long-term. "Entering the Alaska dental market was an excellent opportunity for ODS," said Marty Stewart, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ODS. "We knew that offering a complete suite of healthcare products would be important to meeting the needs of the market. We are pleased to be able to present a total healthcare solution for Alaska employers."
ODS is now marketing Indemnity, PPO and Health Savings Account (HSA) qualified medical plans to Alaska-based employers, and plans to begin marketing medical and dental programs to individuals as soon as the product filings are approved.
The new medical programs include access to online services for ODS members, group administrators and agents. Online services are accessed through the ODS Alaska website and include tools like myODS: A personalized website for members that provides access to member handbooks, claims history, detailed benefit information and is the portal for tools like eDoc America, 24-hour Registered Nurse Advice Line, Healthwise and Personal Health Rx.
